What can do with these turmeric roots?

A while ago I got some whole turmeric roots, and they've been sitting in their bag for a while and I just went to get them so I could use them and most of them are beginning to sprout. There's one rally big one and a smaller one that both have pretty big sprouts (compared to the rest) maybe a cm and the other an inch or almost an inch. Is it possible to plant these two roots and have them grow into a plant, or would that just not work? Would they just die? If I could do this, how would I plant them, what sized pot, if they can survive in a pot, what kind of soil, how much water, what kind of light, etc... Thank you for any and all helpful answers! I am going to do a bit of research to see what I can find, but I figured I ask here first in case I just can't find some things I need to know.
