How to connect Samsung Impression to computer without touch screen?

The touch screen on my Samsung Impression no longer functions. I bought a new phone, but there are still messages and contacts that were not stored on the SIM card that are still on the phone. I want to extract these using a USB cable and the PC software, but upon connecting the USB cable it asks me to select the connection mode on the phone. However, I cannot select any of the options since the touch screen doesn't work. Without selecting an option, the computer does not register the connection. Is there any way I can get the computer to be able to communicate with the phone without using the touch screen, such as a certain button combination?
