Will i be charged if I use my US cell number to call another US number while I'm in Montreal?

I am visiting Montreal in a week. I want to keep my same SIM card and phone while visiting and still be able to call and text friends who live at home. Will I be charged if I call cell phones in the United States? Can Tmobile even tell that I am out of the country since I will be so close to the border?
