Going on a victorian picnic tomorrow should we risk cucumber sandwiches?

after this outbreak of ecoli in cucumbers? we have to take food the victorians used to eat. my mate said little triangle cut up sandwiches with cucumber on? surely the vitctorians had cold meat at hand aswell? cant see the big attraction there and what about ecoli? also i heard is affecting brussel sprouts now, is this true or once again is it just a public scare like the outbreak of swine flu?
