Is it possible to make homemade litter for your rabbit?

For rats, rabbits, mice and hamsters you can shred a mixture of non-shiny paper (the shiny stuff isn't very absorbent) and corrugated cardboard. Because I breed rats and like to keep them clean, I use this. Its absorbent, controls odor, and is way cheaper than most store-brand bedding.
