I have a piece of root ginger about 1.5 inches long which has began to sprout.?

It has begun to grow two shoots, If I were to plant it in a pot could I grow an interesting and attractive indoor plant from it?What conditions would it need, to row in my lounge? I usually maintain a minimum winter overnight temperature of about 15 degrees. The lounge gets direct sun in the morning only.
